Evidence Gap Map
A map of where the evidence chain breaks down across policy, template, render, dispatch, archive, and retrieval.
Definition and role
What this artifact examines and how it contributes to evidence readiness.
The Evidence Gap Map identifies the seams where evidence is lost or attenuated as a regulated communication moves from policy through template, render, dispatch, archive, and retrieval. Each seam is named with the evidence that fails at that step, the regulatory exposure the gap creates, and the candidate remediation. The map is synthesized from the other artifacts; it does not generate new evidence findings of its own so much as integrate them into a single chain view.
Evidence reviewed
The evidence categories this artifact examines.
- Policy-to-trigger seam: whether a regulatory trigger condition is captured at the moment the policy fires.
- Trigger-to-template seam: whether template version, payload variant, and personalisation context are captured at compose time.
- Template-to-render seam: whether the rendered output, not only the template source, is preserved.
- Render-to-dispatch seam: whether the dispatch event, channel, and delivery receipt are captured.
- Dispatch-to-archive seam: whether what was dispatched is recoverable from the archive.
- Archive-to-retrieval seam: whether what is in the archive can be retrieved under examination conditions.
Evidence question
The practical question this artifact is designed to answer.
At which seam in the evidence chain does the firm currently lose the ability to reconstruct what happened – and what remediation would close that seam without depending on the vendor that owns the seam today?
How it fits in the assessment
How this artifact supports the Evidence Readiness Assessment and connects with the other diagnostic outputs.
The Evidence Gap Map consumes the outputs of the Template and Render Proof Review, the Retrieval and Export Readiness Review, and the Vendor Evidence Dependency Map. It is the artifact most often presented to boards and audit committees because it integrates the others into a single named-exposure view rather than a per-system inventory.
