Policy-to-Execution Trace

A traceable path from a stated policy to the operational artifacts that prove the policy was executed correctly for a specific borrower at a specific time.

Definition and role

What this artifact examines and how it contributes to evidence readiness.

The Policy-to-Execution Trace tests whether a single customer's experience under a specific policy can be reconstructed from end to end. It starts with the policy version that was in force at the time of the decision and traces forward through trigger condition, action, evidence artifact, archive location, and retrieval test. Each step in the trace has an artifact reference and a fidelity claim: what is preserved, in what form, and what is lost.

Evidence reviewed

The evidence categories this artifact examines.

  • Policy version in force at decision time, with the evidence that establishes the version.
  • Trigger condition under that policy, with the evidence that the trigger fired.
  • Action taken, with the evidence that the action was carried out as policy specified.
  • Communication evidence (where applicable): what was sent, when, in what rendered form, with what delivery proof.
  • Archive evidence: where the trace artifacts now live and at what retention horizon.
  • Retrieval test: whether the trace can be reconstructed under examination conditions.

Evidence question

The practical question this artifact is designed to answer.

For any given policy, can the firm trace a specific customer's experience under that policy from decision through evidence to retrieval, and produce that trace under examination – with the artifacts named, dated, and attestable?

How it fits in the assessment

How this artifact supports the Evidence Readiness Assessment and connects with the other diagnostic outputs.

The Policy-to-Execution Trace feeds the Customer Outcome Evidence Map, which uses traces to anchor specific outcome claims, and the Evidence Gap Map, which surfaces the seams where the trace breaks for whole policy families rather than individual cases.
